| 2. Is Deep Freeze Mac controllable through the Deep Freeze Enterprise Console? |
| |
| At this time, the Macintosh product cannot be controlled through the same console as the Windows version of Deep Freeze. The Mac product can be controlled through Apple Remote Desktop (ARD), LANDesk, or other similar third-party management utilities. |

| 3. Can my users change the start-up disk on my systems and boot from a second hard disk or removable media when the workstation is Frozen? |
| |
| Yes. Please ensure that the Open Firmware Password (OFP) has been configured on your workstations. The OFP prevents users from being able to change to a different boot device or from booting from removable media. More information on the open firmware and instructions on setting the OFP can be found at: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/openfirmwarepassword.html. Users need to set the OFP to prevent the workstation from booting from alternate disks. |

| 4. Can Deep Freeze Mac be included as part of my master image? |
| |
| Deep Freeze Mac can be deployed as part of your master image. When imaging, please ensure that the software is disabled prior to taking the image from your master workstation. Please note that if the disk configuration on the target machine is different than the one you are using on your master workstation, any disk partitions that were not present on the original image are Frozen by Deep Freeze.

| 5. I have turned off the icon in the menu bar area. What is the procedure to access the controller to turn off the software? |
| |
| Users can open their Applications folder, click on the Faronics folder within, and then run the DFXControl.app file. This prompts you for your Deep Freeze user name and password to disable the software.

| 6. How do I upgrade from an older version of Deep Freeze Mac to a newer version? |
| |
| Faronics recommends that previous versions of Deep Freeze Mac be uninstalled prior to the installation of a new version. |

| 7. If I have installed the ARD tasks but none of the tasks work properly (i.e. they all fail because there are no targets.), what`s wrong? |
| |
| The Deep Freeze Mac Assistant installs a series of template tasks into the ARD console. None of these template tasks are assigned to a specific computer at the time they are installed. Users can either duplicate these tasks and assign workstations to the tasks, or they can assign workstations to the tasks that the Deep Freeze Mac Assistant installs. Please note that if the ARD Console is running when the Deep Freeze assistant is run, the tasks will not be installed into the ARD Console. |

| 8. I uninstalled Deep Freeze Mac and when I want to install it again, it says upgrade. Why is that? |
| |
| If the original installation of Deep Freeze was pre-configured with a custom installation file, a record of that installation remains behind on the workstation because the install file would have a unique name different from a regular installation file. To resolve this issue manually, remove the receipt for the installation from /Library/Reciepts/.pkg. The will be the name of the original installation program that was installed on the workstation. |

| 9. I have an older Mac with Deep Freeze Mac on it and it takes an extended time to boot, how can I make it faster? |
| |
| In some cases, cache files on workstations need to be rebuilt. Booting the computer into a Thawed state and allowing the workstation to boot fully at least once allows the cache files to be optimized for the workstation. |

| 10. What operating systems are supported in Deep Freeze Mac? |
| |
| Mac OS X Panther (10.3 through 10.3.9), Tiger (10.4.1 and up), and Leopard (10.5 and up). |

| |
| Deep Freeze Mac version can be installed on any Macintosh running a supported operating system that has a G3 Processor or better, and 256 MB RAM of system memory. Deep Freeze Mac is a Universal Binary application (Intel- and PPC-native). ARD integration requires Apple Remote Desktop version 2.2 or later. |

| 12. How do I best deploy Deep Freeze Mac to a group of machines? |

| With a custom install package created by the Deep Freeze Assistant, you can use Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) or a similar deployment tool to quickly deploy and install the software. For rapid deployment, use your imaging solution of choice (like NetRestore) and include Deep Freeze Mac as part of your master image. |

| 13. What options do I have for saving user data if my Macs are Frozen with Deep Freeze Mac? |
| |
| A user can save data to either a global or user ThawSpace (a virtual partition on the Frozen drive or volume), a Thawed partition, a network account or to removable media such as a USB key. In Deep Freeze Mac v4.0 and higher, integrated user Mapping is featured; this allows you to easily redirect all or part of a user's home directory to a Thawed partition or ThawSpace. |

| |

| The Deep Freeze Mac tasks give network administrators increased flexibility when managing Deep Freeze Mac workstations. These tasks can be run with several different third-party enterprise management tools and/or central management solutions; this includes executing commands in Terminal while connected to a remote workstation via SSH. |

| |
| Yes, Deep Freeze Mac supports ARD 2.2 and up. |

| 17. After installing Deep Freeze Mac on my workstation, Digidesign Pro Tools will not let me open a projectm, and I receive an error that the volume that the data is being opened in playback only mode. This problem goes away as soon as Deep Freeze is uninstalled. What can I do? |

| This problem has been resolved in Digidesign Pro Tools version 7.2. While Digidesign and Faronics cooperate to resolve compatibility issues between our products, Digidesign does not officially test, certify or support Deep Freeze Mac with Pro Tools. | 18. Can I transfer Deep Freeze Mac configurations from one workstation to another?

| Through use of the Export and Import buttons found at the bottom of the Deep Freeze Controller screen, configurations can be exported as a plist file and imported into the Deep Freeze Controller on another machine. A restart is required for the import to take effect. |

| 19. I have created my ThawSpaces, but I can`t see them |
| |
| Though the Deep Freeze Controller adds the ThawSpaces within the program, a restart is required for the ThawSpaces to appear as mounted volumes on the Desktop. |

| 20. Can I modify my ThawSpaces? |
| |
| You can add or delete ThawSpaces through the ThawSpace tab in the DF Controller. As well, you can change the size of any ThawSpace, though this action will create a new ThawSpace and any data which was saved within will be permanently deleted. |

| 21. Can Deep Freeze Mac freeze removable media such as Firewire drives or USB keys?

| |
| No, these are not displayed in the Deep Freeze Controller Drives tab and cannot be Frozen.

| 22. How do I know if my version of Deep Freeze Mac is the most current? |
| |
| With Deep Freeze Mac 3.1 and above, a user is able to check from within the program itself as to whether the version running is the most current one. Instructions will be given if the version running is out of date. |

| 23. Can I use Deep Freeze Mac with NetRestore? |
| |
| Yes, Deep Freeze Mac is completely compatible with any popular imaging solution. |

| 24. Why is my Frozen drive not badged with the Deep Freeze icon, even though I've chosen this option? |
| |
| This is most likely occuring because you have set your account to log in automatically. If this is the case, you can click on the Frozen drive and the badge should appear. Alternatively, you could log in manually - the Deep Freeze Mac badge will then automatically appear on top of the drive. |

| 25. Does Deep Freeze Mac support Parallels, Boot Camp, Virtual PC, or VMWare? |
| |
| Yes. Deep Freeze Mac can be used to protect all Parallels, Boot Camp, Virtual PC or VMWare environments. If Deep Freeze Mac is installed, then any Parallels or VMWare environments that are located on a Frozen drive will be reverted upon every Mac restart. Deep Freeze for Windows can be installed in a VM environment (regardless of whether or not Deep Freeze Mac is installed) to ensure that every Windows restart within the VM session is reverted. To protect a Windows Boot Camp partition, use Deep Freeze for Windows. |
